Prior to opening his law practice, Mr Helle enjoyed a solid and diverse legal career. He was awarded a law degree from the University of Oslo, which included a period of study of Private International Law at the Hague. Following 18 months as an assistant judge (dommerfullmektig), Mr Helle joined the Department of Justice as a legal advisor. On leave from this position he obtained the degree of Master of Comparative Law from the University of Virginia. From the Department of Justice Mr Helle moved to the Norwegian Parliament (Stortinget). Most of his work here focused on legal opinions drafted for individual representatives, committees and the parliamentary authorities.
